Student Support Service Students Travel to Stratford, Ontario
Summer 2005Student Support Services, a federally funded TRIO
program, provides services to eligible ACC students. Located in The
Learning Center, the goal of Student Support Services is to promote
academic success and enrich the college experience of participating
students. Some of the services offered to students include the
following: academic assistance; workshops; transfer assistance;
academic, career, and personal counseling; cultural activities; and
services for students with disabilities.

Activities are changed and modified to meet the needs of students
each year. A newsletter, The Spotlight, is published throughout the
fall and spring semesters to inform Student Support Services
participants of up-coming activities. Following are some of the
events and services students found beneficial for 2004-2005:
- Transfer Workshop
- Monopoly Night
- Waivers for Application Fees to Four-year Institutions
- Free Tickets to Thunder Bay Theatre & Alpena Civic Theatre
- MLA Workshop
- Campus Visits to Lake Superior State University
- Detroit Pistons Basketball Game
- Blackboard Workshop
- Campus Visit to Michigan State University and Caravan Circus
- Financial Aid (FAFSA) Workshop
- Free Tickets to ACC Spotlight Series
- Shakespeare Festival in Stratford, Ontario
