The 2008 Christmas Wish List program begins Monday, November 10.  Matching children's wishes with donors continues through Thursday, December 4. 

Gifts must be returned the week of December 1 - 5, to Room 104 of the Center building.  Gifts should be labeled with the child's name and code number.  Cash donations are welcome and used only for gifts and program expenses.

The program concludes on December 10 with Alpena Public Schools bus drivers and other volunteers delivering gifts to referring institutions where they are subsequently distributed to the families. 

A holiday tradition in our area, the Christmas Wish List matches generous donors with the wishes of over 500 children and families in need.  Gift requests traditionally consist of clothing, toys, household goods, and grocery store gift cards. 

School success workers, teachers, and social service professionals in Alpena, Alcona, Montmorency, and Presque Isle counties submit families to the Volunteer Center's Christmas Wish List.  Those submitting are in a position to verify need and obtain very specific gift requests.  The Volunteer Center does not accept submissions by private individuals.   

The Volunteer Center collaborates with the Salvation Army and the Vietnam Vets Toys for Kids programs to eliminate duplication of services.  Confidentiality is strictly safeguarded.
