 The ACC Flute Festival

The Second Annual ACC Flute Festival was on Saturday, October 18, 2008.

Joanna Cowan White's talents in flute pedagogy and flute performance were starred at the 2008 Festival.  Ms. Cowan White inspires flutists of all levels in the art and technique of flute playing and performing.  An added benefit was the inclusion of Ms. Cowan White's colleagues, Kennen White, on clarinet, and John Nichol, on alto saxophone, who conducted master classes on their instruments.

The three artists perform together as Eclectic Trio and conducted a performance subsequent to the Flute Festival as part of the ACC Spotlight Series at 7:30pm.  Festival participants were admitted at no additional cost.

Check back here in June for information about next fall's Festival!

The Volunteer Center continues to keep in touch with community needs.  Last year's Flute Festival came about as a result of requests for an event celebrating music and cultivating talent.  Due to budget setbacks many small schools have discontinued music programming.  The flute is the most commonly played instrument in school band programs.  The ACC Flute Festival offers an opportunity to learn and listen in mutual appreciation.
As need is identified in the community, other events may be offered.  Please call the Volunteer Center if you have suggestions.
