Newport Center Building (CTR)
This
facility designation names an addition to campus completed in 1996,
as well as renovated space which was formerly called the Besser
Technical Center Annex. The new and renovated facilities are connected
to one another and to Besser Technical Center. It is truly a "center"
of activity, housing the College Library and A-V Department, a 250-seat
performance and lecture theatre, a health fitness facility and an
athletics and events arena. There are two seminar rooms, faculty
offices, three general purpose classrooms, a two-way interactive
room, classroom and labs for auto body repair, utility technician,
electrical apprentice and millwright apprentice courses. A student
lounge, activities room and government office are located here.
Also in the Center are offices for Employment Services and the Center
for Economic and Human Resource Development, which includes workforce
training, Alpena Volunteer Center, industrial testing services and
the Small Business Development Center (SBDC).
