The Counselor Education Faculty from Central Michigan University offers a Masters of Arts in Counseling degree through the Madeline Briggs University Center at Alpena Community College.
Program Description:
The 49 credit-hour Master of Arts in Counseling program prepares
students to work as professional counselors in one or more of the
following: public and private schools, institutions of higher learning,
community agencies and private practice. Two program options are
available: School Counseling and Professional Counseling. The Master
of Arts in Counseling leads to Michigan Licensure as a Licensed
Professional Counselor for all participants. For those who choose
the school counseling specialty, it also leads to endorsement or
licensure as a professional school counselor. Courses are offered
on weekends in a cohort format. The courses are offered sequentially
over a 3 year period with the students beginning and ending the
program together. All of the courses are offered at the Alpena site.
Practicum and internship experiences are done in the field at local
schools and agencies. The current cohort will graduate in 2004.
