The 49 credit-hour Master of Arts in Counseling program prepares students to work as professional counselors in one or more of the following: public and private schools, institutions of higher learning, community agencies and private practice. Two program options are available: School Counseling and Professional Counseling. The Master of Arts in Counseling leads to Michigan Licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor for all participants. For those who choose the school counseling specialty, it also leads to endorsement or licensure as a professional school counselor. Courses are offered on weekends in a cohort format. The courses are offered sequentially over a 3 year period with the students beginning and ending the program together. All of the courses are offered at the Alpena site.
