Atlas of Medical Parasitology:  This is a comprehensive atlas that provides numerous images of parasitic organisms.  The site is well organized and easy to use.  

Biology Web Site References for Students and Teachers:  This site provides easy access to over 5,600 internet sites in thirteen different areas of biology, including microbiology.   

Cells alive:  This resource site provides many interesting facts and information about cell structure and function through images, movies, and animations.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention: This website provides the latest epidemiology of  infectious diseases.  The CDC is the leading federal agency that is charged in protecting the health and safety of people.

Dennis Kunkel Microscopy, Inc.:  This is a marvelous site which features electron microscope images of microbes and other organisms.

Doctor Fungus:  This is a very informative website.  Features include current news in mycology, image banks, and on-line references on about anything related to fungi.

Journal Watch Online:  Brought to you by the publishers of the New England Journal of Medicine, this website includes summaries on articles from leading medical journals and comments on the latest clinical research.  

Mayo clinic: This is an excellent website for learning about diseases and other health-related problems.

Measurement conversions:  From the people at Science Made Simple, Inc., here is handy on-line measurement conversion site for metric and US customary units.

MedicineNet:  A good source of information on practically any health-related topic from A to Z.

Michigan Department of Community Health:  This website, provided by the State of Michigan, informs and updates residents about public health issues in Michigan.

Michigan Emerging Disease IssuesThis site, provided by the State of Michigan, provides Michigan residents very informative information and updates about emerging diseases in the state.  These include bovine tuberculosis, West Nile virus, and Lyme disease.

MicrobeWorld:  Brought to you by the American Society of Microbiology, this site provides interesting facts and information about microbes and the field of microbiology.

Microbes.info:  If you are searching for websites related to microbiology, this is the place I recommend you start with.  Known as the "Microbiology Information Portal", Microbes.info conveniently provides the user comprehensive and well-organized listings of numerous microbiological resources.   

Microbiology and Immunology On-Line:  Provided by the School of Medicine at the University of South Carolina, this comprehensive and well organized site covers topics in immunology, bacteriology, virology, parasitology, and mycology. 

Micrographia: This website is for students and teachers of (especially) fresh water biology in their search for creature identification and illustrative material.

Mycology Online:  This is very nice site that covers medical mycology.  It has a little bit of everything.

Online Photo Atlas:  The Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University of Copenhagen provides this useful site if you are looking for fungal and bacterial images.  Also included here are images of positive and negative results from a variety physiological (phenotyping) tests. 

Outbreak:  This is a very well-designed interactive program provided by the Southwest Biotechnology and Informatics Center at New Mexico State University.  Incorporating the use of microbial identification techniques, you are responsible for identifying the causative agents of various outbreaks. 

Protist Information Server:  If you want an image of a specific protozoan, algae, or cyanobacterium, this is definitely the place to go.

World Health Organization:  The World Health Organization (WHO) is the medical limb of the United Nations.  This website provides current information and a global perspective on the epidemiology of infectious diseases.

World Organization for Animal Health:  This organization specifically monitors animal diseases and those known to be transmissible to humans.  They alert the international community about major epidemiological events that can affect the well-being of both animals and humans.
