ACC Names Dziubinski Fellow of the College
Each year ACC recognizes a Fellow of the College, who through a sense
of purpose, community concern and leadership has enriched the
educational, cultural and/or economic lives of the citizens of
Northeast
Michigan. The 2010 Fellow of the College is Dave Dziubinski, Plant
Manager of the Lafarge - Alpena Plant.
Dave was born and raised in South Bend, Indiana. He attended the
University of Alaska in Fairbanks and received a B.S. degree in Geology
in 1986 and a M.S. degree in Geological Engineering in 1992. While
at the university he was a member of their NCAA Hockey team from 1980 to
1984. Dave has been Plant Manager for the Lafarge Alpena Cement Plant
since March of 2004. Prior to coming to Alpena, he was the Plant
Manager of the Lafarge Whitehall Cement Plant in Pennsylvania beginning
in October of 2001. Dave initially joined Lafarge in September of
2000 as the Operations Manager of the Whitehall Cement Plant. Before
employment with Lafarge, Dave worked for Cambior Inc., a precious and
base metal mining company based in Montreal, Canada. He held
technical and managerial positions at operations in Alaska, Arizona and
Mexico.
Dave has been an active member of the Alpena community for the
past 6 years and has served on numerous boards and organizations over
those years including Chamber of Commerce board member (2004 – present),
President (2009); Besser Museum of Northeastern Michigan – Capital
Campaign Co-Chair; United Way of Northeast Michigan – Capital Campaign
Co-Chair (2009); Target Alpena board member; Boy Scouts of America –
District Recruitment Chair; and a member of Rotary International.
Dave has been married to Teri for 24 years and they have two sons;
Connor who is attending Michigan Technical University and Tyler, who
will be attending Shenandoah University in Virginia in the fall.
