Since 1996, the Alpena Community College Foundation has conducted its annual Scramble for Scholarships, which has raised over $221,000 and provided many students with the resources to attend ACC.
In 2004, the ACC Foundation renamed its tournament to memorialize a good friend and community leader, Robert M. Granum. During his time on the ACC Foundation Board of Trustees, Bob freely gave his financial expertise and greatly contributed to its growth.
The Scramble takes place every year in August, at the River's Edge Golf Club. The event is a four-person scramble with a 9 a.m. shot-gun start. Lafarge - Alpena Plant has served as the event's corporate sponsor for the past ten years.
