Event Title:
ACC Advancing IT Infrastructure for Students, Faculty, and Staff
Event Details:
Alpena Community College is embarking on an exciting journey by implementing a new Student Information/Administrative computer system. The sixteen week information technology implementation project will poise Alpena Community College at the forefront by providing students with numerous online tools to facilitate the college experience. Stay tuned for more details and the introduction of new web-based tools for students.

Background
After two years of researching alternative Student Information/Administrative Systems, Alpena Community College Board of Trustees approved the acquisition of associated hardware and Datatel Colleague software during the fall of 2004.  The sixteen month implementation project commenced in December 2004 and will be completed in April 2006.  Since the implementation is quite extensive, involves comprehensive staff training, requires data conversion, and numerous process changes and decisions, the project will be phased in over a period of sixteen months.

Overview of Datatel Colleague
Datatel Colleague is a comprehensive Student Information/Administrative System specifically designed for higher education and includes integrated applications for students, faculty and college employees.  The Datatel Colleague system includes tools for students, management of financial aid, management of college financial operations, management of college curriculum and resource planning, and management of college human resource functions.

Some of the Benefits for Students Include:

  • On-line registration system
  • Ability to search for available college classes on-line
  • Ability to audit program progress and identify requirements on-line
  • Ability to generate unofficial transcripts on-line
  • Ability to make tuition payments on-line
  • Enhanced communications, news, and calendar available on-line

For more information on the Datatel Implementation Project, visit the Colleague Implementation web site.
